This illustration is inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock printing from the Edo Period. To reflect the four seasons, a recurring artistic theme during the Edo Period, I designed four patterns, one for each season, incorporating Japanese symbols for the seasons. I then used the patterns as origami paper to create the cranes.
